Reaksyon: Germany wins 2011 World Cup of Pool

The cinderella run of Thailand is over and the hot streak of German Ralf Souquet continues. After defying the seedings in the tournament in 4 games, Team Thailand of Nitiwat Kanjanasri & Kobkit Palajin succumbed to the German pair of Ralf Souquet and Thorsten Hohmann, 10-4. Germany is the first European team to win the World Cup of Pool.

I really wanted to see Thailand win against the Germans especially after the Souquet-Hohmann tandem embarrassed Bata and Django in front of a big audience yesterday. It was too much to ask I guess as the surprising Thais have upset 4 straight opponents to be a finalist. The law of averages has finally caught up although I really have to give credit to the superb form of the Germans. If there are more big money tournaments here in the Philippines, most likely Souquet would apply for dual citizenship.

Ralf Souquet is on fire. A week after winning $20,000 in the World Pool Masters, he now has to split the $60,000 prize with Hohmann. He has earned $50,000 in less than 2 weeks. Not bad for a pool player. If we convert it, that is over 2 Million pesos. I hope he spend a lot of it here, to help the economy. ;)
